We reply within two to three business days. Kiyo is built and run by one person, so weekends and holidays can take a little longer.

Including these three things gets your issue solved much faster. The device you are using (iPhone, Android, or web browser); which screen you were on and what you did when it happened; and the version and build information at the very bottom of the appโ€™s Settings screen (Kiyo 1.0.0 ยท 7-character commit).

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Kiyo without an account?

Yes. Choose Get started without an account on the sign-in screen and you can start right away, and the web version works without signing in at all. In that case your records are stored only on that device and are not sent to our servers.

Without an account, though, you cannot carry the same records across devices or back them up. If you switch devices or delete the app, your records go with it. If you later sign in with an Apple or Google account in the app, it asks whether you want to bring the records on that device into your account.

Where is my data stored?

If you are not signed in, everything stays on your device only. Once you sign in, planner records such as to-dos, notes, habits, and schedules are stored on our servers and synced across your devices.

There is one exception. Events brought in from Google Calendar are not stored on our servers. Each device fetches them from Google directly and keeps them on that device only. Items imported from Google Tasks, on the other hand, become part of your to-do list, so they are included in sync. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.

How do I turn Cycle Syncing off or delete my cycle records?

Cycle Syncing is an optional feature that is off by default, and turning it on asks for separate consent to the handling of sensitive health data. Settings > Cycle Syncing gives you two options.

  • Turn the toggle off โ€” cycle information disappears from your screens and nothing more is sent to our servers. Your existing records stay on the device, so turning it back on picks up right where you left off.
  • Withdraw consent to Cycle Syncing โ€” withdraws your consent and deletes your cycle records. This cannot be undone, and turning the feature on again later starts with consent, just like the first time.

Iโ€™m not getting notifications.

Daily and habit reminders work in the app only. A web browser has no way to schedule a notification for a set time, so it is not supported there (the notification section does not appear in Settings on the web).

If they are not arriving in the app, it is usually the deviceโ€™s notification permission. If reminders are on in Settings > Notifications but this device has not granted permission, an Allow button appears there with a short note. On iOS, once you decline, the app cannot ask again โ€” you have to turn it on yourself in the deviceโ€™s Settings app > Notifications > Kiyo. Your reminder settings travel with your account across devices, but OS permission is per device, so even if you allowed it elsewhere, you have to allow it once more on the new device.

What happens if I delete my account?

You can delete your account under Settings > Account > Delete account. All of your data stored on our servers is deleted, any Google and Apple permissions you connected are revoked, and the records on that device are reset as well. This cannot be undone.

If you want to keep the account and only clear out your records, use Reset Kiyo at the bottom of Settings. It erases only the records you created in Kiyo and leaves items imported from Google Calendar and Google Tasks where they are.

I want to disconnect Google Calendar.

Go to Settings > Google integration > Disconnect Google. You stay signed in; only the integration is cut. The integration is attached to your account rather than to a device, so if you delete the app, reinstall it, and sign in again, your earlier setting is still there.
