Frequently asked questions
Can I use Kiyo without an account?
Yes. Choose Get started without an account on the sign-in screen. You can also use the web version without signing in. Your data stays on that device and is not sent to our servers.
Without an account, you can’t sync or back up your data. If you switch devices or delete the app, your data won’t be available.
Calendar, to-do, and habit features work without an account. Connecting Google Calendar or Google Tasks requires you to sign in.
If you sign in later in the app, Kiyo will ask whether you’d like to import the data on that device into your account. On the web, data you made without an account is not added to your account when you sign in.
How do I sync my data between the app and the web?
Sign in to the same Kiyo account on each device to access your data. Use the same sign-in method (Apple or Google) everywhere — an Apple sign-in and a Google sign-in count as one account only when they use the same email address.
If you’ve been using the app without an account, you’ll be asked whether you’d like to import your existing data when you sign in.
Where is my data stored?
If you’re not signed in, your data stays on your device. When you sign in, your to-dos, notes, habits, and calendar events are stored on our servers and synced across your devices.
Events from Google Calendar are handled differently: each device retrieves them directly from Google and stores them locally, without saving them on our servers. Tasks from Google Tasks are included in your synced to-do list. See our Privacy Policy for details.
How do I turn off Cycle Syncing or delete my cycle data?
Go to Settings > Cycle syncing and choose one of the following:
- Turn off the Cycle syncing toggle: Hides cycle information and stops sending cycle data to our servers. Your existing cycle data stays on your device, so you can continue where you left off if you turn it back on.
- Withdraw cycle syncing consent: Withdraws your consent and deletes your cycle data. This cannot be undone. If you enable the feature again, you’ll be asked to give consent again.
Why am I not receiving notifications?
Daily and habit reminders are available only in the app. They aren’t supported on the web, so notification settings won’t appear there.
In the app, go to Settings > Notifications and check that Allow notifications is turned on. If an Allow button appears, tap it to grant notification permission on that device.
If you previously denied permission on iOS, the app can’t ask again. Open your iPhone’s Settings > Notifications > Kiyo and turn on Allow Notifications.
Your reminder settings sync across devices, but notification permission must be granted separately on each device.
What happens if I delete my account?
You can delete your account under Settings > Manage account > Delete account. All of your data stored on our servers is deleted, Kiyo’s access to your Google and Apple accounts is revoked, and the Kiyo data stored on that device is deleted as well. This cannot be undone.
If you want to keep your account and only clear your data, use Settings > Reset data > Reset Kiyo. It deletes only the events, to-dos, habits, and notes you created in Kiyo. Events and tasks imported from Google Calendar or Google Tasks stay, both in Kiyo and in Google. If Sync Kiyo items to Google is on, events and to-dos you created in Kiyo and synced to Google are deleted from Google as well.
How do I disconnect Google?
Go to Settings > Google > Disconnect Google. This disconnects both Google Calendar and Google Tasks without signing you out of Kiyo.
Uninstalling the app does not disconnect Google, because the connection is linked to your Kiyo account rather than to a device.
